Gas & Beaches of Spain ("the Extension") is a free, open-source Chrome browser extension that displays real-time fuel prices and beach water quality data for Spain.

Location Data

The Extension uses your device's GPS coordinates exclusively on your device to calculate distances to fuel stations and beaches. Location data is never transmitted to any server and is not stored or shared with third parties. Location access can be revoked at any time through your browser settings.

Analytics

The Extension collects anonymous usage analytics (click patterns, feature usage) to improve the user experience. This data is not linked to your identity and is used solely for product improvement purposes.

Data Sources

The Extension fetches publicly available data from official Spanish government APIs:

• Fuel prices: Ministerio de Industria, Comercio y Turismo (MINETUR)
• Beach water quality: NÁYADE (Ministerio de Sanidad / MITECO)
• Weather: AEMET (Agencia Estatal de Meteorología) and Open-Meteo

Third-Party Services

The Extension may use Google Gemini API for the AI assistant feature. This feature is opt-in only and requires you to provide your own API key. Your API key is encrypted and stored locally in your browser.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
